Salt Cathedral de Zipaquira

Michelle and I had a lovely FULL day today. We explored our airbnb surrounds early this morning - in search of a cafe or panaderia. Turns out, we are only MINUTES (like 4 minutes) from the world-famous Plaza Distrital de Mercado Perseverancia. OMG - we're totally hitting that!

Our driver, Jorge, picked us up around 9:30. We spent most of the day getting to/in/from the Salt Cathedral in Zipaquira. Jorge is a driving PRO (also a great guide).
Sidebar: I was at the Salt Cathdral back in July, 2018 with a group of visiting professors. We were teaching 2-week intensive courses at LaSalle Univ. in Bogota).
Today with Michelle - it was SO much more crowded. A national holiday weekend - Feast of the Sacred Heart. Very cool place, though!

Michelle and Jorge. He bought us a cookie snack while we stood in line - to tide us over until lunch

On the way back, we stopped for lunch (una bandeja paisa y una cerveza - gracias! - which was way too much food ...so I split it with Jorge!. Then, supermarket shopping for some airbnb provisions. A walk at dusk down 7/Septima pedestrian street (past the planetarium). A good day! :)

View from the top floor of where we're staying. (Pool, saua, hot tub, and small gym too).

Salad and malbec spritz for dinner!

Tomorrow: Monserrate and El Candelaria - Plaza de Bolivar, Cathedral, and street mural art! :)
